Calgary, Alberta  -- We often think our sleeping babies look like angels, but what if I told you they could actually sleep on air and it would be the safest (and possibly soundest) sleep of their little lives to boot?

Parents have long struggled with the crib mattress conundrum: while the mattress should be air-permeable to reduce the risk of suffocation and overheating, its open cell nature is a breeding ground for bacteria. “The answer for this,” explained Narda Simpson of OYACO, “has traditionally been to cover the mattress with a non-permeable mattress protector, which ironically cancels out the air-permeable properties of the mattress.”  This can potentially lead to re-breathing (the breathing of expelled carbon dioxide instead of air) and overheating, situations that can contribute to the incidence of SIDS, she added.

The new AeroSleep Baby Protect mattress cover’s revolutionary triple layer system lets air and moisture through its 3D honeycomb structure top layer to reduce the risk of suffocation and overheating. It absorbs moisture that evaporates fast, and forms a shield against bacteria and allergens in the mattress, all to provide a firm yet comfortable sleeping surface for baby. The cover is also machine washable, to eliminate all traces of bacteria that may accumulate in the absorption layer.  Mattress conundrum solved.

AeroSleep Quick Facts:

• AeroSleep is a mattress cover that consists of 95 percent open space.
• The middle layer of the cover is an absorption layer that captures bacteria-causing moisture. Washing it at 60°C will annihilate all bacteria.
• The bottom layer of the cover protects baby from any bacteria already trapped inside your crib mattress (any used mattress will contain bacteria-causing dirt and moisture), and keeps additional moisture from entering.
